Jonathan Holmes of the eponymous “Sup Holmes” webshow was kind enough to have me on as a guest this week! You can listen to/watch the whole thing here:
Huge thanks to Jonathan for the opportunity to speak to such a huge audience about my work. I started out making obscure-ass adventure games and now it’s showing up as news on one of the major gaming websites. That is bananas. It’s more than bananas. It’s papayas.
Well, I did it. I finally managed to use the word “douchebag” four times in a 4-panel comic. Time to retire.
Speaking of life goals, this review of Spooks made me seriously rethink the crossover appeal of adventure games: The Unscathed Corpse (possibly NSFW). Vince pointed it out to me. I thought it was a regular game blog until I noticed the other links/blog posts. How is it that my game got reviewed on a site that is primarily devoted to fetish porn? My life keeps getting weirder.
Let’s go around the room and introduce ourselves. I’ll start.
My name is Erin Robinson, a.k.a. The Ivy. I’m a 20-year-old cartoonist and adventure game developer. This website is a cross between a museum and a design course, except that you can take things from the museum and you’re not getting graded on the course. So it’s pretty much freeloader’s paradise in website form. Welcome!
Right now “Spooks” is the only game available on the games page, but hopefully we’ll have a new addition in a few weeks and I can finally get around to working on Skyward. So many secrets! There’s a tiny clue as to what my next game will be somewhere on this site…but that’s all I’ll say for now.
You may have noticed the “tutorials” page up there next to games and comics. I don’t pretend to be an expert, but I’ve learned a few things about game design in my work on Spooks, Skyward (in progress), and that other oh-so-secret project. I’ve also been doing weekly comics for a comedy paper for three years.
That’s about everything for now. Stay tuned, updates will be happening at least once a week. Mad props to Tim the Web Guy for setting the whole thing up for me.
