Let me be the first to offer a round of applause to the unstoppable Dave Gilbert. Three years into this game development gig, Dave has just published his third commercial title, Emerald City Confidential.
It’s fantastic. The writing is witty and captivating, and the story never veers too far from its film noir roots (no small feat, in such a fantastical setting). The art is gorgeous, the voice acting is spot-on, and the puzzles will keep you coming back long after you think you should go to bed. Also, I did the inventory and magic sprites. Just had to add that.
All in all, ECC is a delightful way to spend a few hours. You can play it for an hour for free on Playfirst, so what are you waiting for?
